Did you know that you can put a block on your cell phone "DO NOT CALL" to those telemarketers!

I JUST DID MINE :O)
REMINDER: on (March 22) all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.
YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS - they eat up your minutes and your time and your nerves!
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222
It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to block.
You can also go on line @ DONOTCALL.GOV
** According to the instructions: It takes about 31 days for this to take effect due to the rules of when the telemarketers have to check and re-check the list. If it does not work after a 31 day cycle, please log a complaint. Go to the website to see how to follow up on those that are not obeying the rules.
This is the same site as the original DO NOT CALL Registery - so it should work.

Hi Rosemary,
Thank god for the do not call list service. I already did.
Last Saturday I registered my cell phone because I was getting sales text messages I wanted to stop. I went to the National Do Not Call Registery website:
https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
There also some very good information there too.
Eric & Tony: check this out - http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2007/10/dnctestimony.shtm
Thank you so much for the reminder! Just did it!

Releasing cell phone numbers to telemarketers on March 22nd is a hoax. However, telemarketers calling you on your cell phone is not.I have been receiving 2 or 3 a week for the last couple of weeks. Telemarketers are using predictive dialers by calling sequential cell phone numbers.
I is a good ideal to have your cell phone numbers placed on the Do Not Call Registry, if you do not want to receive these calls. Also remember, if you publish your cell phone number publicly on your web site, business cards, etc. you may still get these calls. Business-to-business calls are exempt from the Do Not Call Rules.
I wrote a blog a while back on complying with the Do Not Call Rule for real estate agents, if you would like more information.
Thanks, Good Post!
Rosemary, why can they get the numbers yet I still have no idea how to call another cell unless they give me the number direct?:????? I don't get it. Later in the rain~Deb
